When students and teachers share that they're having problems remembering passages or finishing projects, four questions come to mind: 1. How much clear water have you had today? 2. How many fresh greens have you had today? 3. How have you moved your body/deeply breathed today? 4. How much rest are you getting? Water is the stuff of life. Drink it and help your brain think, help your muscles become more flexible, help your body glow. Don't call it "performing"...

Because sometimes that freaks yourself out. You start with Thoughts: Am I playing this right? Should I even play this? WhatifImakeamistakeANDTHEWHOLEWORLDKNOWS? It can get a little unhinged. Dial it back. Instead, say, "Let me show you something" or "Listen to what I learned" or "Isn't this cool/sick/groovy"? Say it like you're amazed. Because it is amazing. To be able to play even a little bit of something someone else recognizes, or of something you created-yes, that is amazing. So show us what you've learned. Show us something cool. And feel the change within you. That's what it's all about.
